Juice Entertainment Responds to DOJ and FTC Inquiry with Official Letter
The promoter has been locked in a lengthy lawsuit with Live Nation
New Jersey promoter Juice Entertainment has submitted an official response to the public inquiry led by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and US Department of Justice (DOJ) into “unfair and anticompetitive practices in live entertainment.” It follows comments submitted by the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), which called for Live Nation to be broken into four different companies alongside a raft of other suggested changes.
Background:
Juice Entertainment has been locked in a lawsuit with Live Nation for 15 years.
As per its website, the company had planned to host what they claim would have been “the largest electronic dance music festival on the East Coast.”
They allege that Live Nation attempted to force them into a partnership, and used “strong-arm tactics” to prevent it from proceeding when Juice refused.
The lawsuit is currently before the US Federal Court for the District of New Jersey.
The letter:
In its letter to the inquiry Juice alleges Live Nation has “engaged in fraud, monopolistic behavior, deceptive business practices and corporate espionage.”
