Influential Label Star Trak Re-Launched With Create Music
The joint venture resurrects The Neptunes’ former label
Independent music platform Create Music Group has entered a joint venture with Rob Walker to relaunch the label he co-founded, Star Trak Entertainment.
Background:
Star Trak Entertainment was founded in 2001 by Walker and The Neptunes, the production duo he managed featuring Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo.
The label released hit songs such as “Drop It Like It’s Hot” by Snoop Dogg, “Grindin’” by Clipse and “She Wants to Move” by N.E.R.D.
The vision:
In a statement, Walker claims the joint venture isn’t about bringing Star Trak back but is more about “building a new chapter – rooted in where we’ve been, and built for where we’re headed.”
“With Create as our partner,” he added, “we’re giving artists the space to move differently, think bigger, and tap into an ecosystem of brands and collaborators that Star Trak has cultivated over the years.”
What they said:
Kyle Bartelman, Director of Global Corporate Development and M&A at Create Music Group: “Rob’s creative vision and industry experience will uniquely position our artists for success with their music and beyond. We’re excited to have Star Trak join the CMG family, and we can’t wait to support Rob and the next wave of Star Trak talent.”
