BMI Launches Program to Help US Songwriters and Composers Find Health Insurance

Performing Rights Organization BMI has teamed with insurance broker Gallagher Alternative Health Solutions to launch BMI Health Connect. A free service for BMI’s US-based songwriters and composers, the initiative offers personalized, expert guidance to help find health insurance coverage that best fits their individual needs, circumstances, and budgets.

How it works:

• BMI’s US affiliates are connected with Gallagher’s insurance advisors, who provide one-on-one guidance on personalized healthcare options.

• Once Gallagher has assessed the affiliate’s individual needs and circumstances, it draws from a portfolio of hundreds of on- and off-exchange plans to present the options available and help affiliates enroll.

• Because Gallagher is an independent advisor, its experts are not tied to any single carrier so will not steer affiliates toward a particular plan.

• BMI says the service is built for the realities of a creator’s life, and designed with variable income, self-employment, and non-traditional work situations in mind.

• The service to explore healthcare options is available now, while enrollment in a health insurance plan can take place in designated Open Enrollment windows.
