Bella Figura Acquires Stake in the Catalog of The Drums’ Jonny Pierce
The deal covers Pierce’s songwriter publishing across the NY band’s first three albums
Catalog acquisition and management company Bella Figura Music has acquired a stake in the publishing catalog of Jonny Pierce, the songwriter, vocalist and creative force behind New York indie act The Drums.
The catalog:
The deal covers Pierce’s publishing interests across The Drums’ core discography, from 2009 EP Summertime! up to their third album, 2014’s Encyclopedia.
Included are tracks such as “Money,” “Let’s Go Surfing,” “Days,” “Down By The Water,” and more.
Financial details have not been disclosed.
Good company:
Pierce’s catalog will join Bella Figura’s roster of songs that includes the RAK Music Publishing repertoire, Robbie Williams’ “Angels,” The Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me,” Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing,” and more.
It’s Bella Figura’s first major deal following the company’s expansion into the American market last year, which included the appointment of veteran music executive Gary Gersh as Chairman.
What they said:
Alexi Cory-Smith, CEO & Founder of Bella Figura Music: “Jonny Pierce has created some of the most enduring and influential songs in modern indie pop. His ability to craft melodies that feel both immediate and timeless, combined with his distinctive lyrical voice, has made The Drums' catalog a cornerstone of the genre. At Bella Figura, we're committed to a partnership-first approach, working collaboratively with all existing partners to ensure these songs continue to thrive for years to come. We're honored to be stewards of this remarkable body of work.”
