YouTube has revealed a new live concert series called Music Nights, which launches with performances by Kacey Musgraves, Bleachers and Isaiah Rashad.
Why it matters:
As Digital Music News points out, the announcement comes only a week after competitor Spotify revealed plans to secure licensing rights to stream live video of music festivals.
The details:
In a blog post, YouTube says it collaborates closely with artists “to transform some of the world’s most iconic venues into unforgettable, intimate fan experiences – and share them with fans everywhere.”
Fans can watch full performances, relive standout tracks on repeat, and explore behind-the-scenes moments on Shorts, directly on each artist’s Official Artist Channel.
This year YouTube will host Music Nights events in the US, Europe, England and Japan.
Launch events:
The series launches with performances by hip-hop artist Isaiah Rashad at Intuit Plaza in Inglewood, California; Kacey Musgraves at the historic Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas; and Bleachers at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park.
