Universal Music Group Invests in Prominent Thai Record Label What The Duck

What The Duck personnel will join Universal Music Thailand

Universal Music Group (UMG) has made a strategic investment in the Thai record label, What The Duck (WTD). As a result, WTD Founder Moy Samkwan Tonsompong will come on board Universal Music Thailand as Managing Director.

Personnel:

  • Tonsompong will continue to work on WTD.

  • WTD Co-Founders Chichaya Karnasuta and Torpong Chantabubpha will remain on with the label as well.

Thailand:

  • WTD represents major Thai artists, including The Toys, Bowkylion, Musketeers, and Whal & Dolph.

  • Subscription streaming revenue in Thailand grew 13.1% in 2024, and the recorded music market grew 12.9%.
