“Telekinesis” Copyright Suit Against Travis Scott, SZA, and Future Dropped by Plaintiff

The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning charges can not be refiled

The copyright infringement lawsuit surrounding “Telekinesis” by Travis Scott, featuring SZA and Future, has been dropped. The plaintiff, Roc Nation-signed singer/songwriter Victory Boyd, has “decided to forgive” Scott and co.

Background:

  • Boyd and her publishing company, The Songs of Glory, brought the suit in January 2025.

  • She claimed that “Telekinesis” unlawfully used elements of her song “Like The Way It Sounds.”

  • According to Boyd, she recorded a demo of the song as a voice memo in 2019 and shared it with Kanye West, who then sent it to Scott.

  • Back in March, U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil declined to dismiss the case.

What they said:

  • Boyd via her attorney, Keith White: “After some internal reflection, Victory decided to forgive Travis Scott and move past a legal process that felt like it was draining her creatively and spiritually. Victory is moving forward to focus on her art, her ministry, and her life. She sends her blessings to all of the parties in the case and is excited to move forward.”

Current details:

  • The case was dismissed with prejudice, so the charges can not be refiled.

  • The stipulation was filed by both legal teams. They also waived any rights to appeal.
