Suno Sued by Gerencia 360 Over Alleged Copyright Infringement

Gerencia 360 Music, an independent record label, publisher, booking agency and management company specializing in Regional Mexican and Latin music, is suing Suno for alleged copyright violations.

The details:

• The suit also names Israeli data-scraping firm Bright Data Ltd. and its US subsidiary, Bright Data, Inc.

• Gerencia 360 is represented by the same legal team that filed complaints for Round Hill Music against Suno and Bright Data, and another against Anthropic.

The allegations:

• Gerencia 360 alleges that Suno directly infringed 444 of its registered works.

• It alleges that Suno obtained its recordings and lyrics by scraping licensed platforms such as YouTube, Deezer and Genius, using tools and proxy services supplied by Bright Data.

• According to the complaint, obtaining the materials allegedly required Suno to circumvent authentication gates, subscription paywalls, rate limits, CAPTCHA challenges, and robots.txt restrictions.

Damages sought:

• With statutory damages of up to USD $150,000 per work willfully infringed, the complaint seeks $66,600,000 from Suno for the alleged infringement of 444 works.

• Gerencia 360 seeks the same from Bright Data on a contributory infringement count.

• Two further counts against all defendants, brought under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, cover 1,174 works and carry stated totals of $2,935,000 and $29,350,000.

• Across the four counts, the figures pleaded total just over $165 million.
