Product-based marketing agency Surge Creates – which counts amongst its clients Burger King, Kellog’s and Tim Hortons – has launched Surge Iconics, specializing in custom-made music collectibles and branded merchandise.
Backstory:
Surge Iconics is led by Kevin Berg, Chairman of River North Group, which includes Surge and Legacy Marketing Partners.
A collaboration with KISS manager Doc McGhee led to Berg delivering the first Surge Iconics collectible in partnership with the band, the limited edition KISS Golden Ticket, in 2023.
Berg then enlisted Susan Bank, Founder of The RxProjects, to consult and develop the business behind Surge Iconics.
The offering:
Surge Iconics collaborates with artists, brands, VIP and experiential agencies and rights holders around anniversaries, tours, festivals, and milestone campaigns.
The Chicago-based company leverages more than 25 combined years of experience in creative product design, engineering, manufacturing, logistics and packaging to create what it calls “emotionally resonant, highly tailored collectible experiences for today’s coveted superfans.”
Surge can also incorporate Transcentives, transmedia incentives that unlock digital content and deepen audience engagement and connection.
Current collaborations:
Surge Iconics recently created the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Laser Engraved Crystal Ball for the ‘Rockin’ in Paradise with Styx & Friends’ event.
It also collaborated with KISS on the KISS Golden Collector Card, a tribute to the band’s Hotter Than Hell album crafted with a 24K gold plated card, showcasing holographic graphics of the original cover.
For Lost Lands Festival it created an exclusive dopp kit, collector poster with a custom tube, and a cooling towel.
What they said:
Doc McGhee, artist manager: “Kevin and the team at Surge Iconics understand what great fan collectibles are supposed to be: not just merchandise, but pieces of a legacy. Fans want something they can hold onto, something that becomes part of the experience. The quality, detail, and storytelling behind what they create is exceptional.”
