Mikey Shulman, CEO of AI music generation platform Suno, announced in a LinkedIn post on Thursday that the platform has surpassed 2 million subscribers.
Other milestones:
Shulman said Suno has surpassed $300 million in annual recurring revenue.
He also claimed that over 100 million people have used the platform.
Turbulence:
It has, however, been far from plain sailing for the controversial platform.
Earlier this week a group of artist representatives, including Ron Gubitz, Executive Director of the Music Artist Coalition, published an open letter titled ‘Say No to Suno’ describing it as a “smash and grab” platform.
Though Warner Music Group settled its copyright infringement lawsuit with the company last year, Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment are continuing their litigation.
So too are European music rights organizations such as Denmark’s Koda and Germany’s GEMA.
What they said:
Mikey Shulman, as per LinkedIn: “We are building the entertainment platform of the future. Endless scrolling and passive consumption have flattened culture and reduced people’s taste to a homogeneous, lowest common denominator. People yearn for more, and the future of consumer entertainment is creative. Suno lets everyone actively participate in music culture creation, bringing to life the music that’s inside millions of people. The future is creative entertainment.”
