Sondela Recordings, the independent label specializing in African electronic music, is launching a new imprint, Sondela Volt, “a dedicated home for the deeper, darker and more club-focused edges of African electronic music.”
The goal:
While Sondela Recordings celebrates the breadth, culture and global evolution of African electronic music, the new imprint focuses on peak-time club energy, exploring the worlds of Afro House, Afro Tech and 3Step, with a primary focus on emerging artists.
The first release:
Sondela Volt launches on Friday July 24 with its debut release, “Ascendance,” an Afro Tech collaboration between returning Sondela artist Phila De Giant with emerging talent Ayden J.
The label says the song sets the blueprint for the sound it aims to champion.
Backstory:
Sondela Recordings was launched in 2021 under Defected Records.
It has since evolved into an independent label, becoming an influential platform for African electronic music.
