Sondela Recordings, a Specialist in African Electronic Music, Launches Sondela Volt

Sondela Recordings, the independent label specializing in African electronic music, is launching a new imprint, Sondela Volt, “a dedicated home for the deeper, darker and more club-focused edges of African electronic music.”

The goal:

• While Sondela Recordings celebrates the breadth, culture and global evolution of African electronic music, the new imprint focuses on peak-time club energy, exploring the worlds of Afro House, Afro Tech and 3Step, with a primary focus on emerging artists.

The first release:

• Sondela Volt launches on Friday July 24 with its debut release, “Ascendance,” an Afro Tech collaboration between returning Sondela artist Phila De Giant with emerging talent Ayden J.

• The label says the song sets the blueprint for the sound it aims to champion.

Backstory:

• Sondela Recordings was launched in 2021 under Defected Records.

• It has since evolved into an independent label, becoming an influential platform for African electronic music.
