Primary Wave Ups Kurczaba and Barber in Key Promotions

The publisher continues to expand its leadership teams

Independent publisher Primary Wave Music has announced key promotions across its sync and creative teams, with Peter Kurczaba moving up to Vice President of Sync, while Cleome Barber becomes Director, Creative A&R.

Kurczaba:

  • Kurczaba has been with Primary Wave for nine years, most recently as Senior Director, Creative Sync.

  • He will maintain responsibility for sync activity across various media outlets, while also working closely with Primary Wave’s creative team, sourcing remixes and covers for key catalogs including Sun Records, Sly and the Family Stone, Isaac Hayes and David Porter.

Barber:

  • Barber joined Primary Wave’s creative team in 2020 as an intern.

  • She was brought in full time a year later as A&R coordinator.

  • In 2022 she was promoted to A&R Manager.

  • She has contributed to releases by acts such as Benson Boone, KATSEYE, Hozier and Doja Cat, while overseeing sessions for tracks such as “The Dinner” (Ryan Linvill & ROLE MODEL) and “On & On” (Dante Jones & FLO).

The structure:

  • Kurczaba will continue to report to Marty Silverstone, President of Global Sync.

  • Barber will report to Justin Shukat, President of Primary Wave Music.

  • Both will continue to work out of the company’s Los Angeles office.
