Lil Nas X Pleads Not Guilty, Faces Up To 5 Years In Prison
The singer has been charged with four felonies
"Old Town Road" singer Lil Nas X – real name Montero Lamar Hill – has been charged with four felonies which could collectively bring a sentence of up to 5 years in state prison if convicted.
The details:
Police discovered Hill walking naked on Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley around 6am on Friday 22 August.
Upon confronting Hill the officers allege he charged them, after which he was arrested.
Suspecting an overdose, police took Hill to hospital, after which he was transported to jail and held on $75,000 bail, conditional on attending drug treatment.
Hours later, he was released on bail. Dressed in a blue jail-issued jumpsuit, Hill left the facility and entered the back seat of a waiting white Jeep trailed closely by paparazzi.
Speaking to reporters, Hill’s father, Robert Stafford, denied that the performer had consumed any illegal substances prior to his arrest. “Absolutely not,” he said when asked directly. “He’s doing great mentally. We shed tears, we shed laughter, but he’s in great spirits. He’s gonna be great.”
The charges:
Hill was charged with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.
He has pleaded not guilty.
What’s next:
Hill’s next pre-trial hearing is scheduled for September 15.
