Goldenvoice Introduces Ocean Way Festival in Santa Monica
This is the new event the Coachella promoter teased at the end of last year
Goldenvoice, the AEG Presents subsidiary and promoter behind Coachella, has confirmed Ocean Way Festival. The event was first teased last December, but now it has an official name.
Official information:
The only confirmed details are the name and the location, which is listed as “The Beach in Santa Monica, CA.”
Dates, tickets, and lineup have not been shared.
The festival’s website only has a portal to sign up for further updates.
The details:
A social post for the event features posters for old concerts in Santa Monica led by classic rock artists such as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
Another post discusses Allen Sides’ Ocean Way Recording. He started this series of recording studios in his garage on Ocean Way, which is the street that runs along the beach in Santa Monica.
Sides worked with classic artists similar to those in the posters, such as Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, and Frank Zappa.
Such associations suggest a lineup that would harken back to the 60s and 70s.
In the most recent post, a bit of music can be heard at the end that sounds like modern psych band Khruangbin.
That same post is a collaboration with The City of Santa Monica, Downtown Santa Monica, and Montana Avenue Santa Monica, suggesting the festivities will extend into the city itself.
