Egyptian NGO Pursues Legal Action to End Concerts at the Pyramids
The complaint claims that loud music can adversely affect the structural integrity of the historic landmarks
The Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights (ECESR), a non-governmental organization that represents human rights in Egypt, has filed a lawsuit with the Egyptian government to halt concerts in the area of the Pyramids of Giza.
The lawsuit:
The filing claims that the vibrations emitted from these concerts can destabilize the stones of the pyramids.
It also says that such events are “unauthorized activities” at the UNESCO heritage site.
ECESR has requested that the Egyptian government reassess contracts with private event companies to ensure the proper use of public funds.
Background:
Major electronic artist Anyma performed at the Pyramids on October 10.
The event was organized by three promoters: P+US, MODAD, and Venture Lifestyle.
