Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is the highest court in the federal judiciary of the United States. Established by Article III of the Constitution, it has ultimate appellate jurisdiction over all federal and state court cases involving a point of federal law. It also has original jurisdiction over a narrow range of cases. The Court consists of the Chief Justice of the United States and eight associate justices, who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate.
