Warner Chappell Music (WCM) Mexico has promoted Carlos Ruiz to Head of Música Mexicana. He will be based in Mexico City and continue reporting to Gustavo Menéndez, WCM President, US Latin & Latin America.
The details:
Ruiz will focus on growing Mexican and Mexican-driven music internationally.
That includes greater synergy between the Mexican and American markets.
Delia Orjuela, Head of Creative, Mexican Music/Música Mexicana, will report to Ruiz while working out of Los Angeles.
Orjuela will work closely with WCM’s Mexico and Miami offices.
What they said:
Menéndez: "It’s no surprise that Mexican music is more popular than ever. This isn’t a trend; it’s deeply rooted in culture. Carlos' promotion is an exciting step in bringing our teams in Mexico and the US even closer together, allowing us to continue supporting and advocating for our songwriters as one unified team. We’ve been committed to the genre for years, and today its reach continues to expand, transcending borders and connecting audiences around the world."
Ruiz: "I’m deeply grateful to work in a field I’m so passionate about, and taking on this expanded role within the company is a great responsibility. Música Mexicana has been a fundamental part of my professional career for over three decades. Today, we’re witnessing a watershed moment for the genre – driven by a talented new generation of artists, songwriters, and producers who are creating new sounds and innovative fusions. It has grown exponentially, evolving from a regional movement into a truly global phenomenon. I’m confident that with Delia's support in the U.S. and our A&R team in Mexico, we will strengthen our presence in the genre and write many more success stories in the future.”
