Ultra Records Taps Carlos Alcala as Director of A&R

Iconic dance music label Ultra Records has appointed Carlos Alcala as Director of A&R.

The role:

• Alcala will focus on identifying and breaking the next wave of global dance music.

• He will represent the New York-based label from Los Angeles.

Backstory:

• Alcala was instrumental in bringing Thrive Music back to prominence following its 2015 relaunch, discovering and building talent while helping shape records that resonated globally.

• Throughout his career he has worked with artists such as Tiësto, Kaskade, Wuki and Gudfella, guiding creative direction, identifying breakout records and helping build long-term careers.

• He was also involved with ACRAZE’s “Do It To It,” which has amassed over a billion streams worldwide.

Label history:

• Ultra was founded in 1995, and since 2021 has been a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment.
