Tomorrowland Set to Continue Following Mainstage Fire
The festival has announced adjustments to programming and scheduling
Tomorrowland, the electronic music megafest that happens in Boom, Belgium, will continue to operate after its mainstage burned down earlier this week. The festival confirmed that all attendees will be welcome when the gates officially open on Friday, but as of now, it has presented two possible outcomes for how the event will adjust to these unexpected circumstances.
The organization has since announced it has set up an alternative mainstage. Alok, Martin Garrix, Anyma & others are all slated to play this weekend on the new stage.
Two options for attendees:
If the mainstage grounds can be cleared for activity, the festival will operate as planned.
If the grounds aren't cleared, the event will be divided into two sections:
The campgrounds, known as “DreamVille,” will host mainstage artists scheduled to play on Friday, July 18, at its Gathering Stage. Campers will not be able to access the rest of the festival.
All other visitors will be able to access the main festival grounds without mainstage, where the remainder of the programming will be up and running.
On Friday, doors will open at 14:00 in both scenarios instead of the original time of 12:00.
The festival expects the entire grounds will be fully operational by Saturday, July 19.
What they said:
Tomorrowland via Instagram: “We are still devastated, but the support we’re receiving from all over the world and the energy and joy of the visitors at DreamVille (the campsite) today are truly heartwarming. Meanwhile, hundreds of people are working tirelessly at the Mainstage area to ensure we can open the gates tomorrow. It’s a race against time, but we’re doing this together with the best and most amazing people in the world.”
Friday Afternoon Update:
Today, Tomorrowland announced it has proceeded as normal with an "alternative setup for the beloved main stage"
