Tickets.ie Shuts Suddenly, Leaving Irish Festivals Facing Financial Losses
The DEAG-owned company was Ireland’s largest independent ticketing platform
Dublin-headquartered ticketing platform Tickets.ie has closed abruptly, leaving several festival organizers facing significant losses.
Backstory:
Tickets.ie was founded in 2004, and acquired by Berlin-based entertainment company DEAG Entertainment in 2022.
DEAG’s latest earnings report made no reference to any financial issues with Tickets.ie.
It is yet to provide an explanation for the company’s sudden closure.
A message on the company’s website states: “Oshi Software Limited, trading as Tickets.ie, has ceased trading and the directors are taking steps to place the company into liquidation and appoint a liquidator over the company. The winding up is being conducted in accordance with the Companies Acts.”
It advises ticketholders for upcoming events to “wait to hear from the relevant event promoter directly regarding their event.”
The fallout:
Digital Music News reports of several recently completed festivals where organizers are unable to withdraw ticket revenue.
Ballinamore’s Cowboys and Heroes festival, the Rory Gallagher International Festival and Rockathon are allegedly owed a combined $673,000/€580,000.
