Sam Fender and Olivia Dean Break UK Chart Records with ‘Rein Me In’

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In" has just spent its 16th consecutive week at No.1 on the UK charts, becoming the longest-running No. 1 single by British artists in UK chart history.

The statistics:

• The previous record holders were Scottish band Wet Wet Wet, whose “Love Is All Around” spent 15 weeks at No. 1 in 1994.

• “Rein Me In” is now the second longest-running No. 1 of all time by an artist of any nationality, equal with Bryan Adams’ 1991 hit “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” and behind Frankie Lane’s 1958 song “I Believe.”

• As per Music News, the song took 35 weeks from its first UK chart entry to make it to No. 1, breaking the record for the longest rise to the top.

• It is also the longest-running UK No. 1 of the 2020s, and the only single in UK chart history to return to No. 1 four times during the same chart run.

• It has now spent 55 consecutive weeks in the UK Top 40 – another record – and is only the second single ever to spend a full calendar year in the Top 40.

• “Rein Me In” has been in the UK Top 10 for 28 consecutive weeks, and 38 weeks in total, breaking the record for the most weeks in the Top 10 for any non-Christmas single.
