


PPL Announces Melanie Johnson as Director of Transformation

Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL), a collection society and licensing organization representing recorded music rights in the UK, has announced Melanie Johnson as its Director of Transformation. The role is newly created and sits within the CEO's Executive Leadership team.
The role:
As per PPL's press release, Johnson will oversee a cross-company innovation program designed to help PPL become the number one choice globally for neighboring rights royalty collections.
She joins as PPL reported collections exceeding £300 million ($405.2 million) in 2024, with growth across all three of its income streams.
Johnson's background:
Johnson has previously occupied senior roles at Audoo, Utopia Music, Facebook and Sony/EMI Music Publishing.
She is also Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for Music Minds Matter, a mental health charity dedicated to supporting music workers in the UK.
