Pacific Electric, A New 750-Cap Venue, Opens in Los Angeles

tvg, the company founded by Mumford and Sons’ Ben Lovett, leads the development

Los Angeles is about to get a new 750-capacity venue, with Pacific Electric opening on March 19 in the city’s historic Naud Warehouse, nestled between Chinatown and Mission Junction.

The details:

  • The project is spearheaded by tvg, the company founded by Mumford and SonsBen Lovett in 2016 that develops, designs and operates venues.

  • Its name pays homage to the Pacific Electric Railway Company, nicknamed the “Red Cars,” which connected LA to surrounding city centers.

  • As per the media release, its programming will span “concerts, underplays, club nights, comedy, conversations, and cultural events.”

  • Reflecting Lovett’s experiences as a musician, its facilities include showers, laundry machines, and ample space for touring crews and opening acts.

Initial bookings:

  • The first band to play the venue will be LA folk rockers Dawes.

  • Other early programming highlights include Norah Jones, Alexander Stewart, Rose Gray, the California Chaos festival (featuring Militarie Gun, Stateside, Grave Secrets and more), and the Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival.

What they said:

  • Ben Lovett, Mumford & Sons, tvg founder: “Ever since I realized that my entire life would revolve around music in one way or another I've worn many hats, on and off stage, figuratively and literally! About 10 years ago, I took on the challenge of building a venue for the first time, with zero experience but a lot of passion and perspective as both a performing artist and a fan. Five venues later, I'm more passionate and committed to this than ever, and have learned a lot along the way. Pacific Electric is an offering to LA. Enjoy it, cherish it, scream, cheer, sweat, cry and fall in love in it. It's yours now.”
