


Olivia Dean, Lola Young Lead BRIT Award Nominations
Female and non-binary artists represent 70% of nominees
The annual BRIT Awards will take place at Co-Op Live in Manchester on Saturday February 28th. It marks the first time the Awards will be held outside of London.
New generation:
This year’s nominations are led by a new generation of British artists, with Olivia Dean and Lola Young each nominated in five categories.
Dean is nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Pop Act, as well as receiving two nods in Song of the Year with “Man I Need” and “Rein Me In,” her collaboration with Sam Fender.
Young is nominated across Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Song of the Year, Alt/Rock Act and Pop Act.
Mercury Prize winner Sam Fender has been nominated in four categories.
Lily Allen, Wolf Alice, Dave, Fred Again.. and Jim Legxacy will be considered in three categories.
British mainstays Pulp receive their first nomination in 30 years for Best Group.
Nearly 70% (69.2%) of the nominations feature women and non-binary people combined as solo artists or in mixed gender groups, a record for the BRIT Awards.
Voting:
The BRITs voting academy is comprised of 1200 members from across the British music industry.
Since 2017 the academy has been refreshed annually.
