22 music Industry advocacy groups, known as the Fix the Tix coalition, have signed an open letter to the US Senate demanding tighter restrictions for the TICKET Act.
The demands:
Revealing base ticket prices and every associated fee as soon as a customer selects a ticket, rather than everything appearing at checkout.
A prohibition “without exception” on speculative ticketing, which is when sellers don’t physically own the tickets they are listing.
Deleting the bill’s “Services Permitted” provision to further prevent the selling of tickets that aren’t physically owned.
A ban on reselling tickets above the original cost.
Capping all resale fees at 10% maximum.
What they said:
“The TICKET Act is a step forward, but without a complete ban on speculative ticketing, enforceable limits on resale pricing and fees, and robust, end-to-end price transparency, bad actors will continue to exploit gaps in the law at the expense of fans and communities.”
