MAIA Universe Secures Sync Partnerships With BMG and WMG

This adds to MAIA’s extensive list of agreements with labels and publishers

MAIA Universe, the Stockholm and London-based sync licensing agency, has announced new partnerships with some of the industry’s biggest labels and publishers. BMG, Kobalt Music, Warner Music Group, and Cooking Vinyl have all begun contributing their catalogs to MAIA to streamline sync opportunities.

Background:

  • MAIA is currently working with over 200 labels and 90 publishers.

  • This significant collective sends roughly 10,000 tracks to MAIA’s sync discovery library every week.

  • MAIA also has an agreement with the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) to assist with royalty distribution from its syncs.

What they said:

  • David Wille, CEO, MAIA Universe: “Sync is one of the fastest-growing opportunities for songwriters and artists today. It offers both revenue and potential breakthrough moments that can transform careers. The velocity of sync requests has increased in line with demand. Intuitive technology is needed to ensure that human artists and songwriters can participate in this exciting, multifaceted, and lucrative space. By combining our patent-pending proprietary technology with major and indie rights holders and now the MCPS, we can make sync licensing faster, simpler, and more rewarding for thousands of songwriters and artists who create brilliant emotive new music. It's a huge vote of confidence in what we've built, and a big step towards making MAIA the destination of choice for sync licensing.”
