
Construction Begins on Long Beach Amphitheater
The venue will be run by Legends, formerly ASM Global
Construction has begun on Long Beach Amphitheater, the city’s $21.3 million, 11,000 capacity waterfront venue.
Rejuvenation:
As per Digital Music News, the construction is part of Mayor Rex Richardson’s plan to introduce more tourism and entertainment to the area.
As per Pollstar, the city has been without an operating venue since the Long Beach Arena ceased regularly booking rock and hip-hop acts.
The temporary venue is designed to run for 10 years while the City of Long Beach formulates a permanent plan.
It's scheduled to open this August.
Logistics:
Legends, formerly ASM Global, will run the venue.
As per Digital Music News, their contract includes a monthly $15,000 consulting fee until the venue opens, and a $300,000 annual fee thereafter.
The company will receive an 18% commission on the sale of naming rights, and the opportunity to make money on concessions.
Long Beach has already secured more than $11 million in sponsorships.
