Authorities Investigate Burning Man Homicide

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a male at this year’s Burning Man festival.

The details:

• Authorities were alerted to the presence of “a male subject lying in a pool of blood” in the futurist encampment of Black Rock City on the evening of Saturday August 30, just as the festival was reaching its climax.

• The responding officers found an as-yet-unidentified white adult male “obviously deceased.”

• A homicide investigation was launched on the Sunday, with Pershing county sheriff Jerry Allen releasing a statement on Monday September 1 calling for witnesses and assistance in identifying the man.

• Organizers have stated they are cooperating with law enforcement.
