Sun Ra Arkestra

The Sun Ra Arkestra is an American jazz group formed in the mid-1950s by keyboardist/composer Sun Ra (born May 22, 1914). A pioneer of Afrofuturism, the Arkestra is known for its innovative instrumentation and theatrical performances, blending styles from swing to free jazz. Following Sun Ra's death in 1993, the group has been led by saxophonist Marshall Allen since 1995.
