Sony Classical is an American record label specializing in classical music. It was founded in 1924 as Columbia Masterworks Records, a subsidiary of Columbia Records. The label was renamed CBS Masterworks Records in 1980. Following Sony's acquisition of the CBS Records Group in 1988, it was rebranded as Sony Classical in 1990.
