Shakti is a pioneering fusion band formed in 1973 by English guitarist John McLaughlin and Indian tabla maestro Zakir Hussain. The group is renowned for its innovative blend of jazz fusion with traditional Indian classical music, creating a unique "East meets West" sound. Shakti disbanded in 1978 but later reformed, continuing to influence global music with their intricate improvisations and cross-cultural collaborations. The band recently won a Grammy for their album "This Moment".
