Candi Staton, born Canzetta Maria Staton on March 13, 1940, is an American singer-songwriter. She is renowned for her contributions to soul, R&B, disco, and gospel music. Staton gained prominence with her 1970 cover of "Stand By Your Man" and achieved international success with her 1976 disco anthem "Young Hearts Run Free."
