She was also the only woman nominated in the category both years. Carlos Vives was awarded Person of the Year, with over 30 artists taking the stage to pay tribute to him with versions of his hits. Ela Taubert won Best New Artist just over a year after releasing her debut EP.
Juan Luis Guerra 4.40 were the big winners of the night with Album of the Year and Record of the Year, bringing total Latin GRAMMY wins up to 26, only a few behind Residente’s all-time record.
