Music creation platform Splice has launched three new AI-powered tools: Variations, Craft and Magic Fit.
Why it matters:
The AI-generated tools allow users to reimagine the more than three million human-made, licensed samples on the platform, while ensuring every sound is traceable to its original creator.
Said creators are then compensated fairly for their use.
The launch is part of Splice’s AI-focused expansion, as evidenced by its January acquisition of AI-powered voice production platform Kits AI, and 2025 announcement of a collaboration with Universal Music Group to pursue the “next generation of AI-powered music creation tools for artists.”
The tools:
Variations allows users to create new versions of any Splice sample, adjusting structure, key and BPM, while preserving the core characteristics of the original.
The original creator is compensated whenever their sound is used as a source, and each time a variation is downloaded, as per Music Business Worldwide.
Craft, a new feature in Splice’s INSTRUMENT plugin, transforms samples into fully playable instruments.
Magic Fit adapts sounds to match the harmonic and rhythmic context of a producer’s session, and will be released in summer.
What they said:
Kakul Srivastava, Splice CEO: “Producers have always used samples as a foundation for new ideas; these tools extend that tradition, enabling sounds to be reshaped and reimagined. Grounded in deep, long-standing relationships with producers and sound creators, they reflect real creative workflows and reinforce the value of original work.”
