Snoop Dogg Biopic ‘Snoop’ Set for August 2027 Release

Snoop, the biopic of legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, will debut in theaters on Friday August 6, 2027.

The details:

• The film will be the first under Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment.

• Universal says the film will be the “definitive biopic of [the] artist, mogul and icon of gangsta rap.”

• The biopic will be directed by Craig Brewer, who helmed Hustle & Flow and the 2025 Neil Diamond film Song Sung Blue.

• Brewer will be working from his rewrite of an original screenplay by Joe Robert Cole.

• Outer Banks’ actor Jonathan Daviss will star in the title role.

• Producers include Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, Snoop Dogg, and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker.

• The film will incorporate music from Snoop’s catalog.

Big money:

• Music biopics are big business of late, with the Michael Jackson biopic Michael grossing more than USD $1 billion worldwide, the first film of its type to do so.

• 2018’s Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody registered a box office of $910.8 million.

• Universal’s N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton grossed $201.6 million worldwide in 2015.
