Bruce Houghton, Founder and President of Skyline Artists Agency, has announced he is closing the boutique company after 35 years.
Backstory:
In its early years, acts like Foghat, The Outlaws, Johnny Winter and Rick Danko anchored Skyline’s roster.
Other acts to have been represented by the agency include George Winston, Solomon Burke, The Von Trapps, Merl Saunders, Roger McGuinn, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Firefall, Pure Prairie League, Gangstagrass and more.
The staff:
Having made the decision during the pandemic to close Skyline, the years leading up to this announcement have enabled his team to find new gigs.
James Leslie and Ben Rossman have joined Dynamic.
Andrea Sabata is now at The Kurland Agency.
Mark Lourie is at Madison House.
Casey Bonilla has opened a bakery, and Katy Cates has retired.
The future:
Houghton will remain active as a Senior Advisor to Bandsintown; a contributor to Hypebot, the 20-year-old industry blog he founded; a professor for Berklee Online; and a volunteer with the National Independent Talent Organization (NITO).
