Secretly Distribution Acquires Entertainment Intelligence and Babel Ops

Secretly Distribution has purchased Babel Ops, the technology firm responsible for Entertainment Intelligence as well as bespoke data and analytics tools for myriad independent music business clients.

Backstory:

• Music exec Erik Gilbert and IT professional Greg Delaney founded Entertainment Intelligence (Ei) in 2014, before founding Babel Ops in 2020.

What they do:

• Enterlytics by Ei currently powers reporting for 1.2 million artists across over 55,000 labels, offering independent music businesses up-to-the-minute data visibility and in-depth analytics.

• Babel Ops builds bespoke data management, analytics and royalty processing tools for independent music companies, as per Music Business Worldwide.

• It has long built systems for Secretly Distribution, as well as working with Cargo Independent Distribution and Concord.

• Ei also works with Partisan Records, Reservoir Media, Secret City, MNRK and others.

What it means:

• Babel Ops will continue to create solutions for the above, and other, independent music businesses.

• The company will be joined by longtime Secretly database administrators Ember Wyrdt and Reggie Provine.
