Reservoir Launches Partnership with Jamaica’s Skatta Burrell and Abood Music

The JV will acquire catalogs and develop new Jamaican artists and songwriters

Reservoir Media Inc has announced a joint venture with Jamaican star Cordell “Skatta” Burrell and reggae and dancehall publisher Abood Music.

The plan:

  • The partnership will look to acquire catalogs, and sign and develop Jamaican artists and songwriters.

  • The aim is to advance the new generation of Jamaica’s music scene.

  • The JV’s first transaction will be a “substantial donation” to support relief efforts following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.

  • It was started by Jamdown Records founder Othman Mukhlis in 2001.

  • Skatta is an artist, songwriter, producer, media celebrity and major Jamaican influencer.

  • He is behind the hit 2003 dancehall record “Coolie Dance Rhythm,” which Reservoir has published in the US via Abood since 2020.
