Hook, the platform that allows fans to remix licensed music and create their own shareable vertical videos, has tapped music rights management company MusicInfra to handle licensing and rightsholder payments.
The deal:
MusicInfra will manage Hook’s licensed rights and royalty administration as Hook expands to include more features and offerings.
The music rights management company offers accurate multi-rightsholder clearance across composition and master rights, publisher-level clearance visibility across territories, and DDEX-compliant reporting.
It also offers a real-time dashboard for rightsholders displaying catalog details, usage, and earned royalties on an ongoing basis.
MusicInfra will also manage rightsholder payments on behalf of Hook.
UMG tie-up:
The partnership follows Hook’s recent licensing deal with Universal Music Group (UMG), through which users of the platform can now create and share content using official recordings by participating UMG artists.
What they said:
Gaurav Sharma, Founder and CEO of Hook: “Music is becoming social, where people don’t just listen, they want to participate in and express themselves through the music they love, yet it’s been hard for ordinary music fans to get into it and virtually impossible for music platforms to convince rightsholders to license for it. Hook has unlocked these rights and as we grow, we need a reliable yet agile rights administration and licensing backend to implement our innovative deals with rightsholders. MusicInfra have proven they know how to navigate new uses and complex licensing scenarios.”
