Stem has recruited Jeff Stempeck as Vice President of A&R and Label Partnerships. Founded in 2015, the Los Angeles-based company offers digital distribution and financial tools for independent artists and labels, alongside marketing and strategic support.
The role:
Los Angeles-based Stempeck will focus on expanding Stem’s roster of independent artists, labels, and strategic partners.
The company says he will work closely with the Artist & Label Relations team to “further strengthen [Stem’s] position as a leading partner for independent artists and labels seeking flexible, artist-first infrastructure and long-term strategic support.”
Backstory:
With more than 15 years’ experience across the independent label, distribution, and music technology landscape, Stempeck has held roles at The Orchard, Spotify and TikTok.
He spent the past three years at SoundOn, TikTok’s in-house distribution and artist services platform, signing and developing artists such as Ley Soul, Sam Austins, NESYA, JMSN, Dana and Alden, and Mon Rovìa.
In addition to building and shaping the company’s artist and label roster, he also expanded SoundOn’s label and partner relationships through deals with Broke, Thirty Knots, Tribal Trap, Everything’s Yours Entertainment and Duetti, among others.
Expansion strategy:
The hire continues Stem’s broader investment in artist and label services as the company expands its footprint across emerging and established independent music communities.
