Independent Promoters Partner With ROSTR for AFTERS Event

The event filled out LA’s independent music establishment, The Bellwether, for an enjoyable evening of food, drinks, and music

Pollstar Live kicked off in LA on Tuesday, April 14, and with the live music industry in town, ROSTR took the opportunity to keep the energy up by co-hosting AFTERS at The Bellwether in Downtown Los Angeles.

ROSTR collaborated with various partners on the event, including the fan-to-fan ticket exchange, TIXEL, First Avenue, I.M.P., and the proprietors of The BellwetherAnother Planet Entertainment (APE) and Teragram Presents, who runs LA independent venues Teragram Ballroom and Moroccan Lounge.

As guests rolled in to enjoy the open bar and various snacks (including LA classics, Porto’s Bakery and Joe’s Pizza), many were excited to see the full range of curated spaces The Bellwether had to offer. Upstairs in Camille’s was the place to be as the selectors for the night, DJ Turf Yard, Just Jands, and DJ Murphy, were playing classic tunes on vinyl.

All three of the DJs were industry vets themselves. DJ Turf Yard is Eric Barleen, Senior Vice President of Concerts at APE. Just Jands is Jordan Anderson, Senior Talent Buyer at The Bellwether and APE, and DJ Murphy is David Murphy, Talent Buyer for the Moroccan Lounge. The familiar faces on the decks added to the casual feeling of the evening — more like a house party and less of a networking function.

Murphy, Anderson, Ben Bryan, Jen Bell & Dustin Sugar-Moore curated ROSTR Lists that were displayed on screens around the venue as a cool decoration. ROSTR Lists are a new feature included in ROSTR 2.0. Users can curate individual lists of profiles, whether it’s a promoter collating their go-to team of agents for bookings or artists collecting a list of potential managers.

Sugar-Moore and Anderson had some fun with their lists. Sugar-Moore's was entitled, “Agents we most want to get a bevvy with" filled with friendlies from WME, ROAM, CAA and elsewhere. Anderson shouted out some exceptional female artists for a list entitled “Lilith Fair Return?” featuring Chappell Roan, Arlo Parks, Maggie Rogers, boygenius, and more.

Vivian Wang Donohue: “AFTERS brought the independent live industry together. Being in a room with APE, I.M.P., First Avenue, and all the other partners was a real reminder of how tight-knit this industry is. Every attendee represented a different part of the artist’s world — and that’s exactly the community ROSTR 2.0 was built for."

Anderson: "With AFTERS, we wanted to show our industry pals how the indies do it on the other side of town! Between Another Planet Entertainment, Teragram Presents, First Avenue and I.M.P., we brought the country's largest independent promoters together along with our friends at ROSTR, to host an unforgettable night at The Bellwether. It was a damn good time – we loved welcoming everyone to the venue and showcasing our brand new disco-meets-warehouse space, Camille's."
