Gene Whitney Appointed General Counsel at HYBE America

Gene Whitney is HYBE America’s new General Counsel.

The role:

• Whitney will oversee HYBE America’s legal strategy in North and South America.

• He will “guide corporate governance across all business units, and support the company’s continued growth in international markets,” as per the press release.

• He will be based in Los Angeles.

Backstory:

• With two-plus decades of experience at the intersection of music, technology and media, Whitney has held senior positions at Riot Games, Amazon Music, Meta, SoundCloud, Vevo and Universal Music Group.

Staff moves:

• HYBE America has made a series of high-profile appointments recently, with Ethiopia Habtemariam announced as President of Music, and Johanna Fuentes as Executive Vice President and Head of Communications and Public Relations.

• In September Jenni Pfaff joined the company as Chief People and Transformation Officer.
