Ex-Mojo Music exec Alan Wallis has announced the launch of his boutique publishing company Dynamite Songs.
Why it matters:
Dynamite Songs has acquired around 50 catalogs to date.
It includes those of songwriter Chris Leonard (Ed Sheeran, Paolo Nutini), Sly Jordan (whose songs have been performed by Kendrick Lamar and Sean Kingston), Jim Sullivan of English electronic music combo The Wideboys, Danny Orton (Dan + Shay) and Papa Roach's Anthony Esperance and Bruce Elliott-Smith.
Dynamite is backed by Texas-based investment manager Crestline Investors Inc., which previously invested in Mojo.
It will focus on catalogs that are "smaller sized deals."
What they said:
In a statement, Wallis offered: "The smaller end of the music rights market has been under-appreciated for too long. With one of the best teams and networks in the business behind us, we're strongly placed to navigate this market segment, allowing us to support songwriters and honor their works and legacies."
Dynamite's team:
Former Mojo Music & Media exec Sophie Brown will serve as CFO/COO
Tom Donovan is Head of Business Development.
Peter Thomas is Chief Catalog Officer and Head of Business Affairs.
Naomi Riley is Investment Manager.
