The award show and TV network struck a new five-year deal

CBS and Dick Clark Productions have announced a new deal to air the American Music Awards (AMAs) through 2030. The agreement will commence with the 2026 edition of the awards ceremony, broadcasting on CBS and streaming live on Paramount+.

AMAs on CBS:

  • The 2025 AMAs were the first to be broadcast on CBS.

  • Combined viewership from the live show and encores on other networks, MTV, CMT, and BET, totalled 10 million unique viewers.

  • This was the show’s largest audience since 2019.

  • The 2025 broadcast received 38% more unique viewers than its previous airing in 2022 on CBS's rival network, ABC.

  • This was the first ceremony to be aired on Memorial Day.

  • Jennifer Lopez hosted and performed.

  • Alex Warren, Benson Boone, and Blake Shelton were among the other performers.

  • Billie Eilish was the top winner, Janet Jackson was the ICON Award recipient, and Rod Stewart was the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

Background:

  • Unlike the Grammys, the AMAs are determined entirely by fan voting.

  • Nominees are selected based on metrics such as streaming numbers, album sales, and song sales.
