Ben McOwen Wilson Announced as New PRS for Music CEO

PRS for Music has announced that Ben McOwen Wilson will succeed Andrea Czapary Martin as the UK music copyright collection society’s new CEO. He will take up the role on October 12.

Backstory:

• McOwen Wilson arrives at PRS for Music from his executive role leading YouTube and Google Play across EMEA.

• Prior he spent 25 years working across the creative industries, including launching UEFA’s digital platforms and chairing the UK Broadcasters’ Project Kangaroo during the rise of video-on-demand.

• The exec has also worked with government and industry through the UK’s Creative Industries Council and the Creative Industries Federation on issues including intellectual property, innovation and growth.

Broad experience:

• In a statement, PRS for Music highlighted McOwen Wilson’s experience building partnerships across complex digital ecosystems while working with rights holders, broadcasters, creators and policymakers.

• The combination of strategic leadership, commercial experience and creator advocacy, it says, makes him well placed to lead the organization as AI, gaming, digital platforms and new forms of music consumption reshape the industry.
