Signs Egyptian artist Wegz and Raad Records

AWAL has launched AWAL Middle East, kicking off with the exclusive signing of multi-platinum Egyptian artist Wegz and Raad Records, the label founded by Wegz, Asem Tag (CEO) and Malik Tag (MD).

The deal:

  • AWAL Middle East will be headquartered in Dubai in partnership with Sony Music Middle East.

  • Sony Music Middle East A&R Director Issa Outa will head up AWAL Middle East, due to his deep-rooted experience with independent artists in the region.

  • He will report to Rami Mohsen, Managing Director of Sony Music Middle East, with an added reporting line to Ben Akinbola, AWAL’s Head of Growth, to define and execute AWAL’s strategy in the region.

  • As per its release, AWAL enters the Middle East “with its commitment to empowering independent artists globally, providing a comprehensive range of services all while artists retain ownership of their masters.”
