Ticketmaster to Implement Major Operational Changes in Response to FTC Lawsuit
Two primary shifts include banning users from running multiple accounts and shutting down TradeDesk
In a letter to two US Senators, Ticketmaster has outlined significant changes in its policies stemming from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lawsuit filed against the company last month.
New policies:
Ticketmaster will no longer allow fans or brokers to operate multiple accounts. This include professional resellers.
Every account will need to verified. Resale accounts will need to provide a taxpayer ID such as social security number.
The company will use AI to help remove fake accounts and assist with verifying identities.
Ticketmaster will provide artists with tools to implement “post-onsale ticket sweeps” that can halt bot purchases.
Ticketmaster will also close TradeDesk, its inventory management platform for sellers.
Regulators have claimed TradeDesk encourages ticket harvesting.
