For the first time, all Latin Recording Academy voting members were asked to join
The Recording Academy has expanded its pool of qualified voters ahead of the 2026 GRAMMY Awards on February 1.
New class:
More than 3,800 members who are actively working in the music industry have been invited to join the Academy as part of its 2025 New Member Class.
Invitations were, for the first time, also extended to all Latin Recording Academy voters.
The Academy has revealed that 50% of the accepted class are 39 years of age and under, 58% are people of color, and 35% are women.
As per Variety, Recording Academy membership consists of voting membership for recording creators, and professional membership for music business professionals.
Nominations for the 2026 GRAMMY Awards will be announced on November 7 at 11am ET.
What they said:
Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy: “This year’s class reflects the vibrancy of today’s diverse music landscape. The addition of many Latin Recording Academy voting members underscores that music has no borders and that our mission to serve music people, regardless of where they are from, is stronger than ever. I can’t wait for our members’ passion and hard work to shine through in this year’s nominations.”
