Sony Music Publishing (SMP) has appointed Margherita Gnech Managing Director of its Italy operations.
The role:
Gnech will oversee creative and business operations across SMP Italy, driving growth and innovation.
She will be based in Milan and report directly to Guy Henderson, President of Sony Music Publishing International.
SMP Italy is home to songwriters and composers including Ennio Morricone, Måneskin, Pino Daniele, Franco Battiato, Andrea Laszlo De Simone and more.
As per Music Business Worldwide, Italy’s recorded music market is the third largest in the European Union, and saw an 8.5% year-on-year revenue increase in 2024, “driven by a 17.1% increase in subscription streaming services.”

Her most recent position was Head of Legal & Business Affairs.
She began her career as a copyright lawyer in the IP and TMT department at Osborne Clarke in Milan, and then at Simmons & Simmons.
