Cherry Red Acquires Gull, State and Uproar Entertainment Catalogs

UK label Cherry Red Records has acquired the catalogs of Gull Records, State Records and Uproar Entertainment.

Gull Records:

• The UK rock and pop label was established in 1974.

• Its notable releases include the first two Judas Priest albums, as well as music from Arthur Brown, Seventh Wave and Isotope.

• Its publishing catalog includes global hit “Barbados” by Typically Tropical, of which Cherry Red now represents both the master and publishing rights.

• Also included are the publishing rights to The Vengaboys’ 1999 hit “We’re Going To Ibiza.”

State Records:

• Was founded in 1975 with a focus on pop, soul and disco.

• It released more than 100 singles and myriad albums by artists such as Mac & Katie Kissoon, Gary Benson and Delegation.

Uproar Entertainment:

• The stand-up comedy label’s catalog includes releases by the likes of Brian Regan and Margaret Cho.

• It was acquired through a partnership with MVD Entertainment.
